FOIA in Indonesia Enacted in 2008 and taking effect on May 1, 2010, The FOIA provide that any person has a right, enforceable in court, to obtain access to agencies records, except to the extent that such records are protected from public disclosure. Central Information Commission: provide mediation process and adjudication.

The Basic Purpose of FOIA Encourage public participation in public policy making process. To ensure an informed citizenry. Vital to the functioning of a democratic society. Needed to check against corruption. To hold the government transparent, efficient, and accountable to the governed.

Obligation of Agencies Agencies must index or otherwise organize the records they proactively disclose in order to facilitate the public’s convinient access to them. Agencies are specifically required by the FOIA to maintain general index of the FOIA-processed records in the proactive disclosure. (frequently requested) and to make that index available on their websites.
