How to do a Query

Database Copy the Cars2 Database from ICT_STUD/GCSE Short Course/Mr C Cars Database Example : Find all the Red Cars

1 Click on the Query TAB Click Here

2 Double Click on ‘Create Query in Design View’ Double Click Here

3 Choose the Table Double Click on Cars

4 Close the ‘Show Table’ Dialogue Box Click on the ‘Close’ Button

5 Rearrange the ‘Query’ Window to look like below

6 Select Fields Double Click on each of the fields in turn (Car Reg, Make,Model, Colour, Engine Size, Seats,Price so they appear in the ‘table’ below

7 Choose Selection We want ‘Red’ cars, so type in Red here.

8 Save Query Click on the ‘Save’ Icon Then type in a suitable name into the dialogue box

9 Close Design View Click Here

10 Test Query Double Click on ‘Red Cars’ to Test

11 Happy Days Hopefully we can only see Red cars

12 An ‘AND’ Query : Silver Cars Greater than 1300cc

13 An ‘OR’ Query : Ford or Vauxhall Cars
