Hardhats, hi-vis vests, and safety boots or shoes –Safety boots are your responsibility – must be 100% non-metallic –Radiation badge –In Hall – you must wear hardhats, vests, rad badge, and boots/shoes

3 3 Operations Roles in MICE MOM – Operations ManagerMOM – Operations Manager –Responsible for day-to-day running of experiment –Ensures proper authorizations in place BLOC – On Call BeamLine ExpertBLOC – On Call BeamLine Expert –Responsible for turning ON and setting up Target, Decay Solenoid, beam line magnets and Beam Stop Lead ShifterLead Shifter –Experienced shifter – understands all aspects of running a data-taking shift –Is responsible for MLCR and MICE personnel during operation of experiment when MOM or BLOC not present –Has completed PPS training –Has completed at least 3 shifts ShifterShifter –First role during data-taking TROC – On Call Tracker Expert (when tracker is operational)TROC – On Call Tracker Expert (when tracker is operational) SOC – Software On Call ExpertSOC – Software On Call Expert

10 10 Shift Records Run Summary SpreadsheetRun Summary Spreadsheet –Latest version taken from MICO page –Updated for each run during data studies –OR for sets of similar runs during DAQ debugging etc. –Provides useful record of running conditions for access later eLog entrieseLog entries –Describe what is happening –Include goals of shift –Beamline settings –Target information –There is overlap between this and spreadsheet but both are necessary –See previous entries for examples –More information is better (ie. Write more not less) –Always write a shift summary at the end of your shift To be retired ASAP
