Body Language Limited hand movements Avoid eye contact Hands touch face, throat, eyes & mouth Will not likely touch their chest with the palm of their hand

Emotional Gestures Timing is off between emotions/words Ex: “I love it!” then a smile after Gestures don’t match verbal statements Ex: Frowning when saying “I love you!” Expressions limited to mouth movements, not whole face

Interactions/Reactions Defensive Uncomfortable facing questioner – may turn away May place objects between you

Speech Indirect statements Fill in silence A statement with a contraction is more likely to be truthful: I didn’t do it > I did not do it Monotonous
