1. Ware Junior Senior High School WELCOME TO THE SEVENTH GRADE

2.  School starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:25 p.m.  Students report to the cafeteria when they arrive at school.  From there students report to their homeroom for daily attendance and announcements. SCHOOL DAY

3.  Students will have three core classes before lunch.  All seventh graders have the same lunch.  After lunch students have their remaining core class, SSR and their specials class. SCHOOL DAY

4.  English, History, Math, and Science  Each class is 66 minutes in length. CORE CLASSES

5.  The SSR class is a Sustained Silent Reading class where students read a book silently for 31 minutes. WHAT IS SSR?

6.  Seventh grade students will take four different specials classes throughout the year.  Each class is 41 minutes in length.  These classes are: Foreign Language Introduction, Computers, Health/PE and Music.  At the beginning of each quarter, students will receive a new specials class.  *Band meets during SSR. SPECIALS

7.  Homeroom, lunch, SSR and specials are always held at the same time.  English, History, Math and Science rotate daily.  Ex: Today you have your core classes in this order: History, Math, Science and English…  Tomorrow you will have classes in this order: Math, Science, English and History CLASS ROTATIONS

11.  All children between the ages of 6-16 years of age must attend school. (M.G.L. c. 76, sec. 1)  Parents/guardians must notify the school of their child’s absence in a manner prescribed by school policy. (M.G.L. c.76, sec, 1A)  It is the parent’s/guardian’s duty to ensure that their child attends school. If a child misses 7 full days or 14 half days in any 6 month period, parents/guardians may be taken to court. (M.G.L. c.76, sec. 19) ATTENDANCE-IT IS THE LAW!

12.  If you plan on applying to Pathfinder …  They look at your 7 th and 8 th grade:  Attendance  Discipline  Grades  The better your attendance, discipline, and grades are…the better your chances of being accepted are. PATHFINDER

14.  If you chew gum…you WILL be caught!  Eating in class is prohibited!  No recess   Longer lunch  There are no homework text messages to parents.  Should you fall asleep in class, be prepared to be woken up…zzzzzz  Quiet hallways  Do not speak out of turn; instead, raise your hand  Expect to have more bookwork TIPS FROM CURRENT 7 TH GRADERS
