SYNCHRONIZED SKATING ON ICE IS A SPECIALITY OF FIGURE SKATING. THIS DISCIPLINE WAS BORN IN AMERICA IN 1956. I T IS A TEAM SPORT, WITH 12 UP TO 16 ATHLETES PER TEAM. Y OU SKATE ON A MUSICAL BASE PERFORMING GEOMETRIC FIGURES, SEQUENCES OF STEPS, JUMPS, LIFTS, INTERSECTIONS… T HIS SPORT IS VERY WIDESPREAD IN FINLAND AND IN SWEDEN. TEAM SURPRISE T HE 2012 WORLD CHAMPIONS ARE THE “SURPRISE” TEAM (SWE).THIS TEAM WAS BORN IN 1985, IT HAS WON 5 GOLD MEDALS AND 4 SILVER MEDALS IN NINE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS,NEVER EVEN LOSING A PODIUM.
