Speed Skating By: Fatimah What systems are Used in

What is Speed Skating Speed Skating is just like running because you have to go fast except on skates. Speed skating is also a really dangerous sport because if you cant control how fast you are going you might slam your face in to the glass or fall and really hurt yourself. In speed skating you just need to be fast at running and skating and you can race. Speed skating includes balance being fast and using your legs to push off. There are practices and competitions in speed skating. If you do not like running don’t sign up for this sport.

Muscular System In speed skating you need the muscular system for a lot of things. In Speed Skating you need the muscular system in order to push of and pick up your legs to get a faster start in the beginning. You also need your muscular system to “to run on ice” to get more speed. You also need your muscular system to pick up your legs and cross them over so you can pass the other person and also get more speed. Without the muscular system you wouldn’t be able to win the race.

Skeletal System The Skeletal System is very, very helpful because it helps you stand up on the ice. Without your skeletal system you would just be a big lump on the ice rink. And also you wouldn’t be able to put your skates on your feet. You wouldn’t be able to skate at all. The skeletal system helps you bend your back and keep your balance. You wouldn’t be able to do anything without the skeletal system.

Respiratory System The respiratory system is very helpful because it helps you breath. If you couldn’t breath then you wouldn’t be able to live at all because you are not breathing. So it would be very hard to speed skate when you are dead.

Nervous System The nervous system helps you because it tells you when you get hurt or fall or when your blade cuts your hand. It also helps that if you have a broken arm because you fall on the ice the nervous system kind of gives you a shock.
