Goalie Drill #2 – Agility/Leg Strength/Ring Control Evaluated Drill 10 Rings are positioned in front of the net between the hash marks Goalie is in a kneeling position with toe of skates touching the goal line. Blade of stick should be directly on the ice. Rings are shot HARD on the ice at the corners of the net. Goalie is to kick out knees directing rings to the corner behind the net. Comment: Allow goalie recovery time while resetting rings Repeat 3 times Note: If multiple goalies, consider reducing the number of repetitions. 3 2 1 RepetitionGoals scoredSaves madeLeg PowerRecovery Speed Stick Positioning

Goalie Drill #4 – Ring Throw Evaluated Drill 10 Rings are positioned in front of the net in a semi circle ( one or two shooters) Rings are shot hard on the ice at the goalie’s stick. Goalie stops the ring and recovers the ring from the ice. Goalie tosses the ring at the defined targets alternating sides. The last ring (10) should be thrown straight out from the goalie towards the blue line. Goalie Drill #5 – Rebound Control Evaluated Drill 10 Rings are positioned in front of the net in a semi circle ( one or two shooters) o Best if shots come from side to side Rings are shot hard on the ice at the goalie at a rapid pace. Goalie stops the ring directing the ring to either corner. Repeat 2 times Note: 3 2 1 RepetitionGoals scored (minus 1 point/goal) Recovery (prep for next shot) Stick controlPositioningControls Rebounds Alternate shots side to side

Goalie Drill #6 – Recovery/Agility Evaluated Drill 2 rings placed in front of goalie between free pass circles Goalie is in ready position 1 st shot delivered HARD on the ice directed at one of the corners of the net Goalie is expected to save first shot in a butterfly position controlling the rebound or directing to corner (behind the net). 2 nd shot delivered quickly after 1st in the air (shot type appropriate for age level – wrist or flip). Goalie is measured on: o initial positioning (high or low in goalie crease) o ability to stop both shots o ability to recover quickly from a butterfly position o ability to control rebounds o overall positioning through the drill Drill should be run 5 times. (reduce to 3 times in situations where multiple goalies are being evaluated.) 3 4 5 2 1 RepetitionGoals scored (minus 1 point/goal) Recovery (prep for next shot) Stick controlPositioningControls Rebounds
