Ways to use Gifted Education 2.0 Invite fellow F.I.S.D. Gifted and Talented Cluster teachers from the district to join this ning. This will provide a great way to share resources. Collaborate with fellow GT Cluster teachers to create activities where students’ are communicating online from across the district. Post photos or videos of student projects to be commented on. Collaborate with teachers in other states to set up a video conference for the GT classes.

Technology and the Gifted http://giftedkidsnetwork.com/ http://giftedkidsnetwork.com/ The Gifted Kids Network is a supplemental program that includes accelerated content and affective programming. Students are enrolled from all over the United States. The Gifted Kids Network is composed of three sections; Enrichment 2.0, The Accelerated Learning Unit, and The Lounge. These sections will be discussed on the following slides. Take a look at the amazing student work. http://talentedandgifted.wikispaces.com/Student+Portfolios

Accelerated Learning Units Accelerated Learning Units collaborate with state curriculum standards. Teachers can enroll identified gifted students in a 16 week course where students are expected to participate 5 to six hours a week. Students should expect at least 3 hours of in class time for each 16 week course and one hour of week outside of school. This works great for FISD’s elementary Gifted and Talented pull out program. Students are assigned a new project approximately every two weeks. Classes include feedback through discussion forums, blogs, and grades.
7
Enrichment 2.0 Enrichment 2.0 is based on an inquiry learning model. Students participate in enrichment clusters that correlate with individual interests.
8
The Lounge component The lounge provides an opportunity to socialize with other identified Gifted and Talented Students. Discussion groups are directed by adult facilitators trained in the social an emotional needs of gifted students.
