Weighting for data sets All data weighted: Design weights – correct for unequal probability of selection Population size weights – sample sizes similar in every country resulting in over- represented small countries. Weights put each sample in correct proportion

Aspects of Working Life As part of the rotating module on Citizenship, five questions asked about degree of influence respondents had over their working life Measured on an eleven-point scale: 0-10 The five items make a scale with Cronbach’s alpha of >.85

Job Quality & Job Strain Batch of questions about job (2.G64-73, 77- 78, 82-4): –variety, on the job learning, security, effort bargain, support from co-workers, discretion over work time, health and safety risks –Work intensity, time pressure, prospects for promotion, degree of supervision, unsociable hours
