OFFENSE HOME

PAGE 1:Running Forward In rugby, it’s always important to run forward at the opposing team. That’s the most way way to move the ball forward. HOME

PAGE 2: Avoiding Tackles When running forward, you can avoid tackles by faking left or right, or using a stiff arm to shove a tackle attempt. As shown on the right, it is smart to go low in order to make the tackle difficult for the defender. HOME

PAGE 3: Kicking HOME Kicking is a very easy way to get the ball forward or to score extra points. The picture to the left is an example of a placekick while the photograph on the right illustrates a punt. When a ball is kicked, every offensive player behind the kicker is onside and those in front are offside.

PAGE 4: More on kicking HOME The fastest player is usually assigned to chase after the ball when the kicker punts to gain distance on the field.

DEFENSE HOME

PAGE 1: Tackling HOME The most common and important action in defense is tacking. Tackling either slows down or stops the opposing player. In some instances, a tackle may result in a turnover. DEFENSE

PAGE 2: More on Tackling HOME A smart way to tackle is grabbing an opposing player’s jersey and pulling them to the floor as depicted in the picture. DEFENSE

PAGE 3: Tackle Evasion HOME A good grip or wrap around the offensive player will make it difficult for him to evade the tackle. This animated image demonstrates tackle evasion. DEFENSE

PAGE 4: Support HOME The bigger the player, the harder it is to tackle or bring him down. As a result, committing more players to the tackle might be a solution but it may also result in an overload. DEFENSE
