4 WHAT RECYCLING CAN DO… Recycling one million laptops saves the energy equivalent to the electricity used by 3,657 U.S. homes in a year. 5 One metric ton of circuit boards can contain 40-800 times as much gold and 30-40 times as much copper as one metric ton of ore in the U.S. 6

5 GOALS / OBJECTIVES Educate students about e-waste…  How their choices affect the planet  What they can do with old/obsolete electronics  How electronics can be REDUCED  Think before they buy  How electronics can be REUSED  Donate (friends, churches, charities, non-profits)  How can electronics be REPURPOSED  Usable parts can restore a broken computer or phone  Where can electronics be RECYCLED  Certified Recyclers, Arlington landfill, Recycling Events
