History of Berlin Berlin - capital of Germany, the largest and most populated city in Germany. In Berlin, home to 3,950,887 people. From the old buildings in Berlin kept St. Mary's Church, Berlin Cathedral, the Opera House, the Brandenburg Gate, the Red Town Hall, the Reichstag, Schloss Bellevue. Hallmark of Berlin, of course, are world famous Brandenburg Gate and Victory Column, but apart from these, there are the famous Berlin's symbol - the Berlin Bear. Today Berlin is a world cultural center. This is a major European transport hub and one of the most visited cities on the continent. Universities and museums in Berlin are known all over the world.
