Things you need to know When is sewing lab Every Thursday from 1:30-2:30 Which way does the finger on the bobbin case face when you put it into the machine? No Is it better to bring your supplies and start on time, or start really late on a project? No, never What does the right side of the fabric mean? The side with the print! Are you allowed to take your projects home and sew them if you are behind Never-taking a project home for any reason results in an automatic zero!

What is the purpose of sewing lab? Pivot What kind of fabric did you buy for most of your projects? Mostly 100% cotton How much notice are you given to buy fabric for your projects? Since the beginning of the semester How many times are you SUPPOSED to read your directions before asking for help? At least twice! How much is the lab fee for this class? $15.00 When you need help in class, what is the best thing to do? Read your directions, then politely ask the teacher. Don’t yell across the room or interrupt other people while they are getting help How much is the fine if you lose your bobbin case? $40.00-because that is how much it costs to buy a new one! Why aren’t you supposed to sew over pins? (there are multiple answers) It can break the needle It can bend the pins

If you aren’t prepared for your sewing project, what is your assignment? Bookwork How are you supposed to leave the iron on the ironing board? (standing up or flat on the ironing board) Standing up How big is a regular seam? 5/8 inch What tool do you use to remove stitches? Seam ripper What is backstitching? At the beginning and end of the stitch sewing backwards, then forwards to lock in the stitch How should pattern pieces be handled? Carefully! They rip easily Why are you supposed to wash your fabric before bringing it to class? Because it shrinks. If you don’t wash it before using it your stitches can rip or your fabric will pucker What is the purpose of interfacing? To make the fabric more stiff Is it cheaper to buy patterns through the school because you are a student or at the store? Yes! It is so much cheaper, and it is included in your course fee!
