2. Anzac Day Anzac Day is commemorated on the 25th April. On this day we remember all the people who went to war.

7. Gallipoli During the First World War many Australians and New Zealanders died at Gallipoli. Each year people travel to this place in Turkey to honour the dead soldiers.

10. The Shrine of Remembrance The Shrine is a big building on St.Kilda Road about 2 kilometres from the centre of the city. People visit the shrine to show respect for all those who died at war. On 25th April a special dawn service is held at the Shrine of Remembrance.

11. The Red Poppy In France and Belgium red poppies grew in the fields where soldiers had died. People all over Australia wear red poppies on Anzac Day to remember those that died.
