Members of the House are elected every two years and must be 25 years of age. They must be a U.S. citizen for at least seven years, and a resident of the state they represent. The House has several powers assigned to it. It includes the power to initiate revenue bills, impeach federal officials, and elect the President in the case of an electoral college tie.

For each state there is two Senators and so there is 100 Senators. The Vice President of the United States serves as President of the Senate. The senate may cast the specific vote in the event of a tie in the Senate.

Legislative Branch The Legislative Branch writes the bills and there are two groups of the Legislative Branch There are 435 representatives and100 senators. If they make a bill, they need a simple majority to make it a law.

When the senators and representatives meet they’re called the congress. A senator serves 6 years. A representative serves 2 years. The Constitution got started in 1787. The first ten Amendments are called The Bill of Rights. A bill has to go through the Congress to get to the President.

A bill is introduced when a member of Congress decides to create a new law. Any member of Congress can introduce a bill. Only members of the House may introduce bills that deal with spending or taxes. Before it can become a law, both houses of Congress must pass identical versions of the bill.

Our country's legislative branch, includes another lawmaking body called the Senate. Voters elect two senators from each state, regardless of population size. There is equal representation from each state in the Senate. It doesn't matter if the state is big or small, densely or sparsely populated, or where it is located. The elections are staggered so that both senators from a state are not elected at the same time.
