Hearts Turned Home

God’s purpose is to restore and redeem that which is lost. But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount." Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost“ (Luke 19:8-10 NIV).

Hearts Turned Home It is clear that God’s work in this regard is supposed to affect family relationships. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. The son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.”

Hearts Turned Home It is clear that God’s work in this regard is supposed to affect family relationships. But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate (Luke 15:20-24 NIV).

Hearts Turned Home God desires that father’s hearts be given to their children and that children’s hearts be given to their fathers. Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel. See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse (Malachi 4:4-6 NIV).

Hearts Turned Home God desires that fathers’ hearts be given to their children and that children’s hearts be given to their fathers. Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous--to make ready a people prepared for the Lord" (Luke 1:11-17 NIV).

Hearts Turned Home From John’s mission we can see that it begins with repentance of sin. Responsibility-confession- repentance-pursuit of holiness is expected. …to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous-- to make ready a people prepared for the Lord" (Luke 1:11-17 NIV).

Hearts Turned Home Failure to repent causes generational bondage to sin as well as rifts in father/child relationships. Those of you who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies because of their sins; also because of their fathers' sins they will waste away (Leviticus 26:39 NIV).

Hearts Turned Home Failure to repent causes generational bondage to sin as well as rifts in father/child relationships. 'The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation' (Numbers 14:18 NIV).
