Psalm 145 : 5-9 (NKJV) 5 I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works. 6 Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts,
And I will declare Your greatness. 7 They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness,
And shall sing of Your righteousness. 8 The Lord is gracious and full of compassion,
Slow to anger and great in mercy. 9 The Lord is good to all,
And His tender mercies are over all His works.

Abundance of Goodness We are considering together our theme for this year When you think of the Abundant Life that Jesus offers, what comes to your mind? We’ve already looked at many blessings associated with it
5
Abundance of Goodness It’s safe to say that all of what we have studied so far has to do with the goodness of God There are certainly ways in which we enjoy the goodness of God as a member of the body of Christ Let’s consider the goodness of God (Rom. 11:22)
6
Goodness From His Word God’s word speaks of His goodness throughout its pages We notice that the Psalms are full of praise to God, especially for His goodness “The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord” (Ps. 33:5)
7
Goodness From His Word “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good” (Ps. 34:8) “You are good, and do good” (Ps. 119:68) “For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving” (I Tim. 4:4)
8
Goodness From His Word Obviously the Psalmist and others experienced the goodness of God We also have experienced the goodness of God It’s not just within our own lives, but from what we see and know to be true as well

Goodness of God Seen… 1. In Creation
We can certainly see the goodness of God in His creation of man When God created all, including man, He saw that it was “very good” (Gen. 1:31) David declared that he was “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Ps. 139:14)

Goodness of God Seen… 1. In Creation
God showed His goodness by placing Adam and Eve in the garden He also showed it by providing for them within the garden (trees to eat of, etc.) God’s goodness is also shown in His creation of other things as well

Goodness of God Seen… 1. In Creation
Jesus spoke of how well God takes care of the birds of the air and the lilies of the field (Matt. 6:26, 28-30) David said that every living thing looks to God to provide their food and other desires (Ps. 145:15-16) God is good!

Goodness of God Seen… 2. In Blessings
Not only is God’s goodness seen in His creation of man and all living things, it is also seen in his sustainment and blessing of them God obviously pours out blessings on all His creations, regardless of their reaction to Him (Matt. 5:45)
13
Goodness of God Seen… 2. In Blessings
The blessings He gives to all are, of course, physical blessings Every good and perfect gift in this life comes from God (Js. 1:17) However, physical blessings can deceive us if we are not careful (Asaph - Ps. 73)

Goodness of God Seen… 2. In Blessings
The most important blessings that can show God’s goodness are the spiritual blessings “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Ps. 84:11)
15
Goodness of God Seen… 2. In Blessings
Paul said the goodness of God leads us to repentance (Rom. 2:4) It reminds us of the longsuffering of God spoken of in II Peter 3:9 God’s grace is a blessing that shows His goodness (Eph. 1:7; Ti. 2:11-14; 3:7)
16
Goodness of God Seen… 2. In Blessings
God’s mercy, forgiveness, love and other qualities all flow from His goodness God’s goodness is shown in His dealings with the Israelites in Isaiah 63:7-9 It’s also seen in Judges 10:10-16
17
Goodness of God Seen… 3. In Eternity
Perhaps God’s goodness is best shown in what He offers for eternity The gospel itself is a word that means “good news” It is the gospel that teaches us how we are saved from sins (Rom. 1:16)
18
Goodness of God Seen… 3. In Eternity
The goodness of God came to us in the form of Jesus Christ to deliver us from our sins (Ti. 3:4-7) It is that goodness that God shows us that leads us to Him (Rom. 2:4) God’s goodness is seen in the free gift of eternal life (Rom. 6:23)
