2. Start Now!  You can read to babies from day one. The more you read they better they get at listening  Make it a ritual, do it every day

3.  At first you can read anything to babies just to entertain you both!  Share stories in any language to help develop reading and listening skills  Books with rhyme and repetition are excellent for developing language skills

4. As they get older….  Children may want to hear the same story again and again. Have them fill in words for you  Children may love reading about a certain character, choose several books in a series or a chapter a night  Once they are reading, pick a book at their level and read to each other
