3. Temples
Greek life was dominated by religions so their temples were the biggest and most beautiful

The Greeks developed 3 architectural systems/designs called the orders:
- Doric - very sturdy
- top (capital) is plain
- used in mainland Greece
- Ionic - two scrolls at the capital
- fancier than the Doric design
- Corinthian - has a taller capital
- Is more elaborate than the other
two
- capital has acanthus leaves
sprouting from the column

all the city-states of Greece would gather and compete in athletic events
The Olympics started in these stadiums
