Food The Anglo Saxons loved eating and drinking and would often have feasts in there houses. They drank ale and mead – a kind of beer made sweet with honey. From great goblet and drinking horns. Exotic foods such as potatoes, tomatoes, bananas, pineapples were unknown to the Anglo Saxons.

Food Wheat, oats, rye and barley were grown and ground up to make bread. Wild deer and boar where hunted by wealthy Lords and Kings

Honey, Oat and spice cake
250g oats (Scottish oats) 125g unsalted Butter 50g chopped dried apricots or dried apples. 4 large table spoons of runny honey 1 level teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Vegetable and Barley Stew
1 leek- peeled and sliced 1 onion peeled and sliced 200g of peas Hand full of chopped cabbage (200g) pearl Barley Bay leaf Pinch of sage Pinch of salt

Honey oat cake recipie 1. Preheat the oven to 180c
2. In a large saucepan over a low heat, melt the butter and remove it from the heat. 3. Stir the oats, dried fruit and honey until well mixed 4. Spoon dollops of mixture onto a well greased baking sheet and flatten slightly. 5. Bake in the oven for 10-12minutes until golden 6. Gently lift cakes onto a wire rack and leave to cool

¾ cup (1half sticks) butter 1 ounce unsweeted butter 5 ounce of dark chocolate 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 2 teaspoons vannila extract 2/3 cup flour ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips ½ cup chopped white chocolate chips
