A, WiMAX, WLAN, Circuit CDMA, etc.) to support real time as well as non real time traffic. Provide Backward Compatibility/Inter-Operability  Any and all developments will have to be backward compatible  Open interfaces in RAN (Abis) and between BTS & RNC (for 1xEV-DO) of different vendors  1X services on 1xEV-DO (SMS, MMS, fax, message notification, etc.) and 1X/1xEV-DO cross paging  1xEV-DO-to-1X voice handoff for both idle and active sessions (requires VoIP)  1X-to-1xEV-DO data handoff for active sessions  1X and 1xEV-DO Data Roaming (data, WAP,MMS)
