1
Can Electrical Current Flow Through Fruit?
Experiment by Ted Cruz
2
Purpose 1 To find out if a fruit can conduct electricity. 2 What type of fruit is the most conductive?
3
Research 1 I searched Google to find similar experiments. 2 I watched Youtube to learn about voltage and electrical current.
4
Design 1 Use the same power source and voltage. 2 Use wire of equal length and gauge. 3 Use only fruits. 4 Use fruits of the same size and weight.
5
Hypothesis If a current of twelve volts is passed through a fruit, I believe that enough voltage will be left to light a four volt L.E.D. bulb. I also think that an orange will allow the most current to pass through, giving off the most amount of light.
6
Procedure 1 Turn off power supply. 2 Insert probes into the fruit. 3 Turn on power supply. 4 Check L.E.D. for brightness. 5 Record voltage drop from multimeter.
7
Materials List 1 Apple 2 Orange 3 Tomato 4 Multimeter 5 Eight one point five volt batteries. 6 Battery container. 7 Wire of equal length and gauge. 8 Electrical tape.
8
Conclusion The experiment was a success. All the fruits tested carried an electrical current. The apple was the most conductive not the orange. I was surprised that the orange was the least conductive fruit. All of the fruits tested were able to power the L.E.D.

Future Considerations
If I were to do the experiment again I would vary the voltage and use fruit juice for a more controlled experiment. It is possible that the outcome could be different.
