Genetic Privacy Act Pros ●Protects privacy and sensitive information ○Diseases ○Classified family information ●People could not know your genes without permission Cons ●Research would suffer ○Before they store huge databases of DNA ○$594,000 ●More of a hassle to get genetic testing done California is currently debating a bill that would protect its citizens from DNA testing without their consent.

●Dickey-Wicker Amendment(1996)- illegal to use federal funds to support research “...in which human embryos are created, destroyed, discarded, or knowingly be subjected to risk of injury or death…” ●No legislation that prohibits cloning for either therapeutic or reproductive purposes. ●Human embryos are “any organism, not protected as a human subject under 45 CFR 46.
