IEEE Central Texas Section New Social Media Policy A link is posted at: http://ewh.ieee.org/r5/central_texas/aboutus.htmlhttp://ewh.ieee.org/r5/central_texas/aboutus.html l Highlights l IEEE encourages the use of social media to further engage IEEE members, volunteers, students, media, and those interested in getting involved with IEEE. l IEEE defines Social Media as sites that allow individuals to post and share content publicly, allowing other individuals to view and respond to that content. l IEEE’s ultimate goal is to use social media to protect and enhance IEEE's reputation and Master Brand. l IEEE social media site administrators should register their sites with IEEE.

IEEE Central Texas Section New Social Media Policy l Best Practices l Identify your opinion as your own. l Respect confidentiality, privacy, and intellectual property. l Be responsible and professional. l Be truthful. l Do not spam or post unsolicited messages. l Accurately attribute material that is not your own. l Share only reputable content. l Correct your mistakes. l Respond to comments in a timely, professional manner. l Be polite and level-headed, not defensive. l Write what you know, and keep up with new developments. l Best Practices for Administrators l Register your site. l Include a way for readers to report inappropriate content. l Monitor and moderate posts as appropriate for your group. l Link to appropriate policies, and abide by the policies. l Maintain at least two administrators.
