4 Tips and cautions for creating videos (1 of 3) Never use your original files. Make copies of your original content and edit the copies. This way, if you make a mistake and delete or alter something you still have your original content to fall back on. Periodically save your work. Editing a video can be a long endeavor. You should save your work roughly every 15-20 minutes. If something goes wrong, you will not lose all of your work. Save your work with different version names. If you like what you have done and are going to try something you are unsure of, save a copy of your work before exploring. 6 Tips and cautions for creating videos (3 of 3) Copyright infringement Any media content (video, audio, still pictures, etc.) that you have not created yourself should be considered copyrighted material. You should refrain from using this material, and it is illegal for you to post any production using this material without prior consent of the owner. For our purposes, if you do use music or video that is not your own original content, be sure to give credit to the owner. You should not post your work on the internet or any other public space if you use copyrighted content. 8 System design review (2 of 4: Part 1 - Define Users) You should have brought a one page description of your user’s and his/her needs and wants. This should cover the user’s cognitive, social, and technical demographics (disabilities, beliefs, comfort level using technologies). Also incorporated in this summary should be the user’s educational/career needs and wants, and the user’s social needs and wants. 9 System design review (3 of 4: Part 2 - Systems Diagram) This section should show a simple diagram of how the major hardware components of your system interact. Example: User’s iMac (OSX) connects to the Netgear RP614 cable router. The router is connected to the cable modem provide by the ISP. There is an HP LaserJet 1022 printer connected to the iMac. 10 System design review (4 of 4: Part 3 - List of Components) In this section you should have a detailed list of every component in your system. This should include the hardware inside the computer (i.e. processor type and speed, hard drive type and capacity, etc.), the peripherals (monitor, printer, etc.), software (i.e. Windows XP, Photoshop CS2, etc.), and the cost for each item. If you chose a computer from a retail manufacturer such as Dell, or Apple, you should put the price of the machine and list the specifications of the machine. Be sure to list where the products were purchased (the retailer, not the URL). In this section you should have a detailed list of every component in your system.
