When you’re good at something, you tend to enjoy it. The more you do something, the better you’ll be at it.

» The more you read, the better you’ll be at reading. » The better you are at reading, the more you’ll like to read. The same is true for READING!

“The number of books students read...is among the best indicators of student reading development.” ― Mike Schmoker, ResultsMike SchmokerResults

You CHOOSE the books you want to read at YOUR level. ALL of us! TRY to read at least 40 books this school year across multiple genres. The 40 Book Challenge is for…

Write the title of the book in the box once finished. After Book Talking with me about the book, you can color-pencil it in.

Be sure to keep track of each book you read.

"It is worth emphasizing that the most important single activity to promote reading is reading... Several studies have shown that having students read an additional 280,000 words per year can mean the difference between scoring at the 20th percentile and scoring at the 50th. That's like reading two books the length of a Harry Potter novel (about 155,000 words)." - Mike Schmoker Read!

ACCEPT the 40 book c hallenge because you want to become a better reader! We will ALL try! Ms. Garrad’s classes
