3. One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and—pop
One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and—pop!—out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.

4. He started to look for some food.

5. On Monday, he ate through one apple, but he was still hungry.

6. On Tuesday, he ate through two pears, but he was still hungry.

7. On Wednesday, he ate through three plums, but he was still hungry.

8. On Thursday, he ate through four strawberries, but he was still hungry.

9. On Friday, he ate through five oranges, but he was still hungry.

10. On Saturday, he ate through one piece of chocolate cake

11. one ice-cream cone

12. one pickle

13. one slice of Swiss cheese

14. one slice of salami

15. one lollipop

16. one piece of cherry pie

17. one sausage

18. one cupcake

19. And one slice of watermelon.

20. That night he had a stomachache!

21. The next day was Sunday again
The next day was Sunday again. The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf, and after that he felt much better.

22. Now he wasn’t hungry any more—and he wasn’t a little caterpillar any more. He was a big, fat caterpillar.

23. He built a small house, called a cocoon, around himself.

24. He stayed inside for more that two weeks.

25. Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out and…

26. He was a beautiful butterfly!
