6. The moon orbits earth

7. It takes 28 days for the moon to travel around earth.

8. The moon only looks light because it is reflecting the light from the sun.

9. While the moon is moving around the earth, the earth is moving around the sun. This causes the moon to have phases

11. The moon goes through these phases: New moon Crescent Half Gibbous Full

12. A new moon cannot be seen at all

13. A crescent moon looks like a fingernail

14. Half moon

15. A gibbous moon is almost a whole moon

16. A full moon is a whole circle

17. After the moon is full, it goes backwards through the stages until it is a new moon again.

18. If the moon is getting bigger this is called waxing

19. If the moon is getting smaller this is called waning
