Female Entrepreneurship Ambassadors 130 succesful European businesswomen kicked off a campaign to encourage more women Inaugurated on 5 October 2009 Role models Highlight the role women can play in creating jobs and promoting competitiveness - in schools, universities, community groups etc.: 10 Countries: Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden End of 2009: second call for nominations from the remaining EU countries

Obstacles found Contextual obstacles: educational choices, traditional views and stereotypes about women, science and innovation Economic obstacles: innovation sector requiring substantial investment and women being seen less credible financially than men Soft obstacles: lack of access to technical scientific and general business networks, lack of business training, role models and entrepreneurship skills

WES Network to promote women’s entrepreneurship What: Raising the visibility, create a climate, increase the number, increase the size of exisiting women run businesses How: to be a discussion partner for EU, to co- operate with existing networks, benchmarking, exchange of info and good practices, common projects
