5 TRENDS IN THE TOTAL GHG EMISSIONS Total GHG emissions per sectors for 1988 – 2008, Gg CO2 - eq. In 1988 the GHG emissions were 128015.2 Gg CO2 – equivalent (Gg CO2 - eq.), dropping to 74317.8 Gg CO2 - eq. in 2008. The biggest share in the total GHG emissions for the 2008 – 69.5 % belongs to “Energy” sector. Second is the “Waste” with 14 % of the National emissions, while third is “Industry Processes” – 8.7 %.

16 ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE ACIDIFYING SUBSTANCES’ EMISSION IN THE AIR Acidifying substances emissions, re-calculated as AE and index of its change in Bulgaria, as well as the average AE in the EEA member-states

18 For the period 1990 – 2007 the emissions in Bulgaria dropped by 16%, while the average EEA 32 percentage is 32%. 19 The level of the PM10 air pollution is basic problem before the air quality on the whole country territory. The trend is kept throughout the years. In almost all the stations for a period of one year more than the accepted 35 exceedings of the daily norm were measured. ЗAir Pollution with Particulate Matter (PM10 )
