WELCOME TO THE HEALTHCARE UPDATE FOR MAY 2006

Bob left us for his hometown on May 1 st 2006. Many of us were inspired by his training and guidance.

Eddie from Hephzibah came to us in April 06 with bronchitis and has now recovered. Thomas from Hephzibah came at the same time and was quarantined for mumps infection for 2 weeks. He had a happy time at HSC. During this time, he also found out that he was soon to join his new family.

This little girl could not walk stably because of cerebral palsy. The occupational therapist and doctors taught her mother how to help improve her walking ability through daily physical exercises.

The Rural Healthcare Service began on May 10,2006. A team from HSC traveled to a village 3 hours away to visit the rural community and provide medical service.

The Rural Healthcare Service We gave them some medicines with instructions, toys and stationery.

The Rural Healthcare Service More than 15 children and villagers received medical assessment and treatment by our doctors.

The Rural Healthcare Service One of the volunteers gave a training session on “Basic hygiene and health” to the villagers.

The Rural Healthcare Service Yvonne, another volunteer, contributed to the visit by supporting the other workers and establishing good relationship with the children.

The Rural Healthcare Service Dr. May assisted this CP child in a walking exercise and encouraged her to practice daily so that her legs may be strengthened.

Can you imagine this little girl from Hope Haven almost died last winter because of a serious illness? With loving care and attendance, she has now thrived into a healthy and happy child.

Dr. Lynne left for Chengdu in May 06 for a training course on a new method of treating Cerebral Palsy patients.

We not only treated them medically but provided them with fun-filled and educational activities. Another three children from Hephzibah were quarantined at HSC for mumps infection for 2 weeks.

Norman, previous ELA director, came to visit and encourage us.

HSC thank you for your ongoing support Current needs: –More financial support so that we can extend our services to more people in Xi’an and nearby places. –An overseas full-time doctor or committed part-time doctors to provide consistent medical care for our international community (General practitioners or Paediatricians).

HSC thank you for your ongoing support Current needs: –A permanent International Communications Officer to liaise with overseas teams, visitors, and others doing Healthcare work.
