Habitat’s Involvement Began in 1988 – Due to lack of government funded housing Pulled out in 1991 – Introduction of government- housing program Reinstated in 1996 – 35% of population still in substandard housing

Habitat’s Involvements cont. 153 families served this year Cost of home: US $14,020 Helped 100,000 families in Central America since 1979

Other projects Appropriate Social Interest Housing: – Three year project help 1,850 families through a combination of new housing, home improvements and access to land. – Program provides financial literacy training, home maintenance and community activities. Financial Education: – Aimed at educating and accompanying partner families in the planning and administration of their home economy. – Families learn to administer their income and expenses, design a budget, analyze and control their expenses, and follow a savings plan.
