6. Concrete Noun A noun that physically exists Examples: desk, person, Jane, wall

7. Abstract Noun A noun that does NOT physically exist Examples: love, freedom, ideas

8. Collective Noun A singular noun that names a group of: people things

9. Singular Noun = ONE noun This job could be dangerous!

10. Plural Noun = names more than one noun

11. Possessive Noun A noun that shows ownership or possession. Ex.: student’s grade

12. Possessive Rules Singular: Does not end in “s”: ’s Ends in “s”: One syllable = ’s Two or more = ’ Plural: Ends in “s”: ’ Does not end in “s”: ’s

13. Noun Contraction A noun combined with a verb to show what someone “IS” doing Ex.: Miley’s going crazy.

14. Appositive Phrases A noun near another noun that identifies or gives more information about the it. Examples: Miss White, an English teacher, loves grammar. Mrs. Filter, an amazing lady, is a math teacher.
