Research report The environmental variables analyses showed increased moisture ecoindex in communities colonizing the inundation zones of water- holding dykes compared to the parallel communities developed outside the dykes. The increase of the moisture ecoindex reached the value 0,61 in the pentamerous Ellenberg scale, this is an everege value of the all current vegetational types. With respect to the high number of analysed dykes, this value is highly significant. For this increase are responsible hygrophilous species like species of the genus bog rush (Juncus), but the grasses like heath wood- rush (Luzula multiflora) or reed bent grass (Calamagrostis villosa). The favourable state of hydrologically managed sites is stressed by biodversity increasing. In 2007, the investigators recorded within 8 hydrologically unmanaged sites (400 m 2 ) 22 species in average, while within two hydrologically managed sites the average number of species was 27, i. e. 5 species more.
