 What organs are part of the endocrine system?  What functions do their hormones control?

Endocrine Organs  Hypothalamus  Pituitary  Thyroid  Parathyroid  Pancreas  Ovaries  Testes  Thymus  Pineal

 The nervous system stimulates the hypothalamus  The hypothalamus produces 9 hormones and stimulates the pituitary  The pituitary produces 7 hormones stimulates the rest of the endocrine organs.

 Releasing hormones cause the anterior pituitary to release a specific hormone. They are produced by the hypothalamus  Inhibiting hormone stop a hormones release  Hormones with “ stimulating” in their name are tropic hormones produced by the anterior pituitary. They cause other endocrine glands to produce hormones.  Oxytocin and ADH are produced by the hypothalamus by stored and released by posterior pituitary.

 Make a poster describing the control of the hormone your group is given.  Use the image to the right as a template.  Be sure to fill in the actual receptors and effectors for that hormone.
