5.  Releasing hormones cause the anterior pituitary to release a specific hormone. They are produced by the hypothalamus  Inhibiting hormone stop a hormones release  Hormones with “ stimulating” in their name are tropic hormones produced by the anterior pituitary. They cause other endocrine glands to produce hormones.  Oxytocin and ADH are produced by the hypothalamus by stored and released by posterior pituitary.
