2  Geography is a science  Geography describes the physical and cultural features of Earth.

3  Perspective is your point of view  Spatial Perspective is your point of view based on looking at where something is and why it is there.

4  Urban areas contain cities  Rural areas contain open land that is often used for farming

5  Absolute Location defines an exact spot on Earth  Relative Location describes the position of a place in relation to another place

6  A place can be described both by its physical location and by its physical and human features  A region is an area of Earth’s surface with one or more shared characteristics

7  Diffusion is the movement of ideas or behaviors from one region to another

8  Economic Geographers study the exchange of good and services  Cartography is the study of mapmaking  Meteorology is the study of weather forecasting  Climatology is the study of Earth’s atmosphere and how people are affected by the change in climate

9  Landforms are shapes on the Earth’s surface  The shape, height, and arrangement of landforms in a certain place is called topography.

10  Weathering is breaking down landforms and creating new ones.  Flowing water is the most influential force that erodes and shapes the land.

11  Culture is a learned system of shared beliefs and ways of doing things that guides a person’s daily behavior

12  Developing Countries are sometimes called Third World Countries  Industrialized Countries are the world’s wealthiest developed countries

18  A colony is a territory controlled by people from a foreign land  The Frontier referred to land west of the colonies that wasn’t yet settled by Europeans

27  Approximately one-fourth of Canada’s population has French Ancestry  Canada’s capital is in Ontario

28  Canada was not influenced by Britain or the United States
