World war 2 By Daniel Carleton
3
A little introduction. After the first of the 2 world wars, Germany was treated very badly. Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany in 1933. He was enraged because of the humiliation brought to Germany.
4
This means War! Hitler decided he wanted to take over Poland. Britain and France were not happy and declared war on Germany. So just like that the war began!
5
BLITZKRIEG Blitzkrieg means Lightning War. It is a German tactic. Planes would bomb the battlefield and tanks would finish off the job. It won battles at lightning speed!
6
Concentration camps In Germany, anybody who Hitler didn’t approve of was sent to a concentration camp. These were pretty much houses of death as millions died there, most of which were Jews. They closed after the war (thank goodness). Somebody save me!
7
The emergency Ireland and a handful of other countries were Neutral during the war. WW2 was known as the emergency in Ireland. It was called this because a state of emergency was declared when the war started.
8
Neville Chamberlain Neville Chamberlain was Prime minister of England when the war began, however, Winston Churchill took over soon afterwards.
9
The End of the 2nd World War On May 7 th 1945, Germany surrendered. However, it wasn’t until August 15 th that the war finished because Japan only surrendered then. Over all a massive 60 to 85 million people died in ww2!
