10 10 Challenges (1 of 2) No prior record of HKA corporate knowledge –Consulted CS Awards Handbook, IEEE-CS P&P Manual, and past HKA chairs Supporters asked HKA Committee members for nominations and endorsements! –Complied with impartiality requirements Some nominators who claimed to be “familiar” with the award process still needed explanation of some of the key steps

11 11 Challenges (2 of 2) Two attempts at nominations based on administrative work in developing P&Ps –Perhaps the Awards Committee could consider clarifying the HKA criteria Started a log of decisions and lessons learned, for future HKA chairs –Recommend that the Awards website be updated to ask for examples of diplomacy
