Timer Slides These timer slides have been created for your convenience and can be used in 3 different ways: a timer slide can be inserted, as is, into another PowerPoint; slide(s) can be inserted and any participant instructions added to them; or the animated “timer” and “timer rectangle” can be copied and placed onto a slide in another presentation. All timers begin by clicking the enter key, space bar or forward arrow. They show an alarm clock and ring 10 times at the end of the sequence. The 30 second, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 minute timers count down by 10 second increments until the last 10 seconds at which time they will descend through each second. The 10 minute timer descend by 15 seconds, then 10 and finally counts down the last 10 seconds individually. The ringer will stop after 10 rings but the animation will continue until the slide is advanced. Follow the instructions on the next slide to use.

Timer Slide - Instructions
To insert a timer slide into another PowerPoint: Open the presentation to which you would like to add a timer. Click Insert at the top, and scroll to select Slides from Files. Browse to locate the Timer Slides presentation and double click it. Click the slide with the amount of time that you require and click Insert. If instructions are required, they can be added to this slide. To copy the timer onto a slide in another presentation: Open both the destination presentation and the Timer Slides presentation Place the pointer just above and to the left of the top left corner of the box. Click, hold the mouse and drag an imaginary box around the rectangle, stopping at the bottom right corner. This will enclose the timer in a dotted box. When the mouse is released there will be small circles at the perimeter of the timer. Go to Edit at the top and Copy or hit Ctrl C. Paste this “object” onto the other presentation. Making sure not to click any where on the page except the center of the box, you may drag it to your desired location on the slide. The clock animation may also be copied and placed on the slide if desired.

What are the signals in class that you use? How do students know what they are expected to do, and when?
