13. The HL7 Public Health Functional Profile serves as the overarching profile for public health functions relevant to an EHR-S from which other PH profiles may be derived. In 2011, the Profile was expanded to include new public health domains, e.g., birth defects, public health laboratory, occupational health and health statistics and deep vein thrombosis In the future, we envision expanding the profile by including other domains, e.g., immunization, communicable diseases, biosurveillance / syndromic surveillance, behavioral health, environmental health, and others. 2012 PHDSC EHR-PH Task Force
