Pay attention We need to pay attention or we could get hurt.
5
Get the kids in a group. Teach them what respect means to you, and discuss what it means to them. Train them to be polite and greet each other. Walk them around school to show them the importance of paying attention. Repeat the rules daily, and ask questions about the rules.

I put the problem student in the back of the room near my desk because it will keep him from getting attention, and he will be near me. I put the ESOL student near my desk just in case they need help with anything. I put my desk in the back of the room so that I can see the whole room. The pencil sharpener is in the back so that it isn't an attention seeker. I put the timeout in the back corner so it is not in a place where everyone is paying attention to it.
8
I put the book shelves in the front of the room so I can monitor the kids book choices. I put my desks in groups so that all my kids could have social interaction.

Passing out papers: Each student will have a folder that is at their desk. I will put all of their papers there. Bathroom: My class will go on trips to the bathroom together. If there is an emergency I will write a pass for them. They will have to raise their hands with the symbol for “r” in sign language which I will teach them. Pencils: Must be sharpened Before class begins. If necessary during class I will have a cup in the center of the tables with sharpened pencils for the students.

Getting Supplies: Most supplies will be distributed by me. If I don’t distribute them they will have to get up and get them from the table by my desk. Dismissal: We will work all day. I will tell the kids when it is time to leave and pack up. Turning in Work: The students will put work in their folders and that is how I will collect it. Taking Attendance: I will take attendance by the seating chart.
