In our music video we did the one thing that most if not all of the other music videos of the same genre do and that is mix a narrative with some band performance, This is done in all other kinds of videos of the same genre and was followed to keep the flow of this genre, the way we’re dressed and the lighting of the band performance scenes/ greenscreen scenes also demonstrates a way in which we developed our chosen genre as we followed conventions set by bands such as Sum 41 and New Found Glory in which the way their videos consist of torn jeans, band t shirts and dimly lit, small concert halls, the digipak and album advert on the other hand took a darker twist to the colourful, bubbly punk rock and is more of a dark gritty artist which doesn’t really really mirror the video, but still gives a hard rock effect off which some artists choose to do, the album advert includes tour dates towards the bottom which most artists of this genre again do. Our video would appeal to the same target audience as Sum 41’s videos for example but our digi pak and album advert would get a maybe more mature and a wider audience’s appeal, the font on our ancillary product again mirrors more heavier punk bands such as Minor Threat,by doing this we can appeal a huge audience by developing on but at the same time challenging different sub genres within the genre

The scenes of the music video which are band performance based and show off star image mix well with both my digi-pak and album advert, the fonts used are heavy bold and “punky” in the same way other bands of the same genre use, my digi pak and album advert both use the same image which most bands seem to do, the same clothes are being worn throughout all three ancillary products, the clothes that match our chosen genre and link well when we use them to represent the genre with the video and our ancialary texts. The album advert and digi-pak are almost identical in the ways of fonts and images, but my album advert includes tour dates among tiny venues across the UK which may actually mirror the TV studio where we made it look like we were playing on our video. The image shows two of our bands members walking down a very urban looking set of stone stairs into a tunnel/ underpass. We used a very similar underpass on our music video and together the three products link just from the type of area that this band may be from. The image was darkened on photoshop accordingly to mirror the atmosphere of the part in our video where rural area is used.

Our video was presented to our A2 media class which Is what we would have expected the target audience to be, the video was shown in a screening and we were given feedback on what they liked and where they need to improve, our video was also shown to people I know for their opinion, in our feedback we discovered that people really liked the twist we had done for our narrative, but it was apparently a little complex to understand in a 3 minute song and It would have been better to make a bit of a simpler narrative and mix it with a little more band performance. The feedback also stated that they liked what we had done with the greenscreens to create an environment which we couldn’t around our town and which would be comical, although it was pointed out that there was a fault in our editing skills at one point of the video which was unnoticed and that next time it would have been better to focus on our editing a tiny bit more especially when dealing with complicated scenes involving green screen and trick editing,All in all our feedback was mainly positive with a few flaws that would have needed thought for next time.

In research and planning we were introduced to new blogging site Wordpress where we learnt how to embed videos from YouTube and upload pictures we had took from our own devices, this helped us when putting our initial ideas into the blog posts. To create the actual music video we were given DSLR cameras and tapes to record our own footage to upload in the editing suite, we also used a HD camera in our college’s film studio to film scenes that were set indoors/ greenscreen based. We then uploaded the footage we shot to Adobe Premier Pro editing software where we cut up footage and made the video come together, this is also where we learnt to put an image/ video onto our greenscreen footage. We used the Apple iMacs when creating our ancillary product, through this we uploaded our images onto software such as photoshop, and illustrator, these two programmes enabled us to edit images and the text on the top of them to make it look like an actualy digi- pak/ album advert.
