2
OUR GOAL Our goal throughout this project was to successfully create a catapult with popsicle sticks.
3
MATIERALS The materials used to make the catapult are….. Popsicle Sticks A Screw A Rubber Band A bottle cap Masking tape Penny roles Hot Glue
4
STEPS IN MAKING THE CATAPULT Obtain the materials Start building the structure/base with popsicle sticks and hot glue After finishing the base, we made the arm Glue the head on the arm Taped on a roll of pennies Drill holes so we could put the arm on the base/structure Attach the arm by putting a screw through the holes We then tested it We noticed that it didn’t go so far So we put on a rubber band to see if it shoots farther We then tested it, it went farther
5
DIFFERENT CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED THROUGHOUT PROJECT AND HOW WE OVERCAME THEM We couldn’t find the right screw size to attach the arm on the base – We went to hope depo to find the right screws It wouldn’t shoot long enough – So we put a rubber band around the arm of the catapult.
6
LEARNING AND HOW IT WAS APPLIED We learned that we need to do double layers popsicle sticks – So we did a new catapult after our original one and did double popsicle sticks That pennies was the best for weight – So we used pennies for the weight on the bottom of our catapult.
7
FAILURES AND HOW WE LEARNED FROM THEM Our first model did not have enough support – So we learned that we should do a double-popsicle stick structure for support, that’s why we needed to make a new one The base of our first prototype was uneven – So we learned that we need to be more careful when hot gluying.
