Phi Theta Kappa Dress Etiquette & Pin Etiquette

Dress Etiquette Pants and shirts – No holes, tattering, or rips – Stain-free and clean – No low-cut necklines or bare midriffs – No offensive graphics or text Hats – Remove hats when indoors

How should I dress? Business casual is recommended – Slacks or khakis – Polo, collared shirt, or blouse – Loafers, dress sandals, etc. Fellowship Events (casual) – Jeans that are not stained, ripped, etc. are appropriate with a Phi Theta Kappa t-shirt – Tennis shoes that are clean and neat

Pin Etiquette DO Wear on left side Place above all other pins Wear with polos, dress shirts, business, & formal attire DON’T Wear with t-shirts regardless if they are Phi Theta Kappa Wear on medallion ribbon or officer pin Wear on lanyards at events

Include a Salutation/Closing Use the persons name if possible (Dear Ann or Ann) Titles (Miss/Mrs./Ms./Mr./Dr.) Always include your signature

Descriptive Subject Meaningful “Change in Policy” or “Change in Vacation Policy” Recipients scan subjects: Open Forward File Delete

Attention Getting Opening First/second sentence determines Get to the point Be specific Indicate a benefit “How would you like a raise this year? We need volunteers for the Salary Committee”

Does this chapter report to the DR (on a regular basis) chapter news for the newsletter and DR conference reports? Has this chapter made strides to achieve its Five Star level? Has this chapter progressed toward its Pinnacle goals? Has this chapter organized or participated in hallmark events with other chapters-in or out of the district?

Along with showing up, we have to make sure that the members posses the spirit of Phi Theta Kappa. Meaning… that the members promote the thoughts, ideas, and continuity of Phi Theta Kappa.

These areas as you all know are in Fellowship, Scholarship, Service, and Leadership. The most valuable members are not always officers or become officers, but they are the backbone of this organization. They are leaders in their own rites.

All chapters should send in a written nomination of one member of their chapters in to the DR for review and acknowledgment. These should reach the before each Regional Convention. Anyone that is nominated has to be present for eligibility.
