4 Text Analysis (vs. 1) Reverently and meekly now, Let thy head most humbly bow. Think of me, thou ransomed one; Think what I for thee have done. With my blood that dripped like rain, Sweat in agony of pain, With my body on the tree I have ransomed even thee.  As we take the sacrament, we need to reverently and humbly think of the Savior and His sacrifice for us as He paid for our souls with his body and blood. 5 “In Gethsemane he bowed beneath a load none other could bear. There he sweat great gouts of blood from every pore as he bore the sins of us all on conditions of repentance. In the garden and on the cross he paid the ransom and finished his atoning work. There is no language to extol the wonders of his works and all that he has done for us.” Elder Bruce R. McConkie “In Gethsemane he bowed beneath a load none other could bear. There he sweat great gouts of blood from every pore as he bore the sins of us all on conditions of repentance. 6 Text Analysis (vs. 2) In this bread now blest for thee, Emblem of my body see; In this water or this wine, Emblem of my blood divine. Oh, remember what was done That the sinner might be won. On the cross of Calvary I have suffered death for thee.  The water or wine symbolizes His blood; the bread symbolizes His body. We must constantly remember the suffering He endured that we as His imperfect children might be won back. 7 “Simply eating the bread and drinking the water will not bring that forgiveness. We must prepare and then partake with a broken heart and contrite spirit. The spiritual preparation we make to partake of the sacrament is essential to receiving a remission of our sins.” Vaughn J. Featherstone “Simply eating the bread and drinking the water will not bring that forgiveness. We must prepare and then partake with a broken heart and contrite spirit. 8 Text Analysis (vs. 3) Bid thine heart all strife to cease; With thy brethren be at peace. Oh, forgive as thou wouldst be E’en forgiven now by me. In the solemn faith of prayer Cast upon me all thy care, And my Spirit’s grace shall be Like a fountain unto thee.  We need to have pure hearts and be full of charity to our brethren - forgiving them as we would have Christ forgive us. When we put our burdens on the Lord and have faith in Him, His grace will be poured upon us. Bid thine heart all strife to cease; With thy brethren be at peace. 9 “Our sacrifice is not a literal sacrifice of animals but is a sacrifice of time, money, talents, and a broken heart and a contrite spirit. The Atonement lifts us to a level of opportunity to become joint heirs with Christ and to be exalted with the blessings of eternal life.” Vaughn J. Featherstone “Our sacrifice is not a literal sacrifice of animals but is a sacrifice of time, money, talents, and a broken heart and a contrite spirit. 10 Text Analysis (vs. 4) At the throne I intercede; For thee ever do I plead. I have loved thee as thy friend, With a love that cannot end. Be obedient, I implore, Prayerful, watchful evermore. And be constant unto me, That thy Savior I may be.  At the day of judgment, Christ will intercede for us if we are obedient, prayerful, watchful, and constant. We make the choice, through our actions, if we want Him and will accept Him as our Savior or not. At the throne I intercede; For thee ever do I plead. 11 “When sore trials come upon us, it’s time to deepen our faith in God, to work hard, and to serve others. Then He will heal our broken hearts. He will bestow upon us persona peace and comfort. Those great gifts will not be destroyed, even by death.” Elder Russell M. Nelson “When sore trials come upon us, it’s time to deepen our faith in God, to work hard, and to serve others.
