School Lunch Menu HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT
A school dietitian is attempting to plan a lunch menu that will minimize cost and meet certain minimum dietary requirements. The two staples in the meal are meat and potatoes which provide protein, iron, and carbohydrates. The following linear programming model has been formulated to determine how many ounces of meat ( X1 ) and ounces of potatoes ( X2 ) to put in a lunch: Minimize Z = .03 X X2 ( cost in cents ) s.t. 4X1 + 5X2 >= 20 ( mg, protein ) 12X1 + 3X2 >= 30 ( mg, iron ) 3X1 + 2X2 >= 12 ( mg, carbohydrates ) X1, X2, X3 >= 0

School Lunch Menu REQUIREMENT:
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENT: Convert the linear inequalities into linear equalities. Convert the linear equalities into those equalities suitable for inclusion in the simplex tableau. Set up the 1st feasible solution. Set up the 2nd feasible solution. Solve the problem via QM for WINDOWS or QM Excel.
