1. Why are some countries less developed? 9P November 15 th LO – To be able to give reasons why some countries are poorer than others.

2. What did we learn on Friday?  GDP?  HDI?  Dr per population?  Accuracy of statistics?  This week – to get the most up to date statistics, and to find out possible reasons why your countries may be LEDCs.

3. Task  Using the CIA website- world factbook, you are going to produce 2 case studies to help explain why your countries may not be very developed. You will start it in class today.  www.cia.gov www.cia.gov You will need the following in your case study;  Flag, Map of region (ie Africa / Asia), Wealth (GDP) and a written explanation (in your own words) why your country is less developed.  Where to look, once you have found your country;  Introduction – will give you a clear overview  Geography – look for natural hazards  Economy – how many people work in agriculture? What is the GDP per capita? Where is it ranked in world?  Any other statistics you think show lack of development. (eg. Use of phones etc)

4. Your case study Statistics  Wealth  Population  Dr per 1,000  Economic structure (ie. % working in agriculture) Reasons  Written description explaining why YOU think your country may be less developed. Also in your presentation – a map to show the location Of your country, and the flag of your country.

5. This week  Computers period 8 – research statistics / background info on your countries  Preparation for Friday; to find any examples of your country being in the news.  Friday p1 Finish writing up your case studies, to be handed in at the end of the lesson.
