Terms to know B.C. = Before Christ / or B.C.E. = Before Common Era – Any time before the year zero Higher the number the older the date A.D = After Death / C.E. = Common Era – Any time after the year zero Higher the number the more modern (recent) the date

What Century are we in? Another tricky History trap is that Centuries are always expressed as 1 ahead of the actual numerical year – This is because the year 1 AD is considered the beginning of the 1 st Century. – For example: Always take out the zeros YearsCentury 0-100 1 st Century 101-200 2 nd Century 501-600 6 th Century 1101-1200 12 th Century 1901-2000 20 th Century 2001-2100 21 st century
