1 History Essential Question – Why study history? History – A record or story of past events.

2 History Studying history helps us understand people, societies and the connections between them. History helps us understand “change” and how the society we live in came to be. Only through history can understand the factors that cause change and how much things have changed.

3 History There are many different calendars used to keep up with the passage of time. The Chinese calendar is in the year 4609. The Jewish calendar is on the year 5769. The most commonly used calendar is the one we use called the Gregorian calendar. It is broken down into BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini) or BCE (Before Common Era) and CE (Common Era)
